Title: In case you missed it, Widow's Bay swept the Emmys
The Apple TV horror comedy about a cursed island town just won 14 Emmys, the most ever for a comedy in a single year. It beat Hacks for Outstanding Comedy Series.
The setup: a mayor tries to turn his foggy little New England island into a tourist spot, ignoring the locals who swear the place is cursed. Then the tourists show up, and the old stories start coming true. It's funny, then creepy, then funny again.
- Matthew Rhys won lead actor in a comedy, plus lead actor in a limited series for The Beast in Me, the first man to win both in one night
- Stephen Root and Kate O'Flynn won the supporting acting awards
- Katie Dippold and Hiro Murai won for writing and directing the pilot
It's one season so far, and season 2 is already confirmed. Worth a watch if you haven't started it.
